Record a Collaborative room

Ask for agreement, capture the call and manage the saved recording.

Audio-only and video-with-audio recording are available in Collaborative rooms. Standalone screen demos are implemented but awaiting release.

Start with everyone’s agreement

Agreement applies to the person’s room account for that recording, including reconnection. Recording is not available in Interview, Client or Broadcast rooms, and it does not record an external Google Meet or Teams call.

  1. As the owner of a Collaborative room, join the call and choose Record room.
  2. Select Audio only or Video + audio.
  3. Ask everyone currently in the call to review and acknowledge the recording notice. Capture starts only after their agreement.
  4. Check the recording status. People who join later remain excluded from capture until they acknowledge too.

Understand what is captured

  • Audio-only captures agreed participants’ published audio and shared Q speech.
  • Video + audio also includes their published cameras and shared screens.
  • Q’s shared voice is included even if you mute Q playback on your own device.
  • Private Q, chat, captions, personal workspaces and HTML result panels are not automatically included. A screen you deliberately share can show those items.

Stop and find the saved file

Declining an active recording disconnects your local call and requests a stop for the room. Leaving a call or muting Q is not the same as stopping the recording.

  1. The owner or a participant who acknowledged the recording can request a stop.
  2. Wait for processing and the ready state. A stopped capture is not yet a confirmed playable recording.
  3. Open Saved recordings in the room to play, seek or download a ready recording.
  4. Use the recording’s delete control if you are its owner or creator and still have permission. Deletion blocks new access; it cannot recall copies already downloaded.

Audience, retention and limits

Audience, retention and limits
ItemCurrent limit or behavior
Who can viewCurrent and future members of that room. Company membership alone grants no recording access.
Capture length and sizeUp to two hours and 4 GiB per capture.
Owner storageUp to 10 GiB of retained recordings.
RetentionReady recordings expire after 30 days. Download anything you need to keep before expiry.
Simultaneous capturesOne per room and owner; two across the service. Another active capture may temporarily prevent a start.

Awaiting release: standalone screen demos

A separate browser workflow for recording a screen demo, reviewing it privately and explicitly adding it to a room is implemented but not publicly released. You cannot yet use the public product to create these no-call demos. Public video links, automatic recording transcripts and agent access to recording media are also not available.

Feature access and limits can change. Check availability and planned work.
